Time to get plating!

Hemolytic E. coli inoculated onto blood agar using a spiral plater

Thanks to Dr. Andrew VanKessel in the Department of Animal and Poultry Sciences at the U of S for generously providing TheRubinLab access to his spiral plater! This high tech piece of equipment will allow us to quickly and efficiently quantify the bacterial cultures, and separate organisms based on their ability to grow on selective media. We are looking forward to using this technique for investigating sub-populations of antimicrobial resistant organisms within larger microbial communities.
